Garner Dolphins update - first meet of the season!
Hello GDST family!
For the meet this Tuesday against Devereaux, 56 Garner Dolphins declared an intention to swim. That’s a great turnout! For 19 of those swimmers, this will be their first official meet. Let’s cheer them all on and make it a meet to remember!
On Tuesday, please have your swimmers at the pool by 5 pm. The pool is going to shut down around 4 pm. The setup crew can start any time after that. Huge thanks to all of the volunteers! All positions except one Place Judge spot is filled, so the kids will have a great experience and we're ready to host a good meet. It’s been a true example of many hands making light work.
It’s going to be one of the hottest days of the year on Tuesday, so plan accordingly. Bring something for shade if possible. We’ll have water bottles for volunteers and water for sale, but you may want to bring your own small cooler with ice and water as well.
We need to set up a staging area for the kids to sit as a team at the meet. 3-4 pop up tents next to the covered area would work great. If you can bring one, please email [email protected] and let us know. Thanks in advance!
Quick update on the process if your athlete is sick or can’t compete the night of the meet: text Coach Julie (412-720-7689) and email [email protected].
We’ll have concessions with pizza, chips, and drinks. Southern Snoballs will be at the meet with ice cold goodness.
Heat winner prizes and heat participant ribbons will be awarded to 6 and under, 7-8, and 9-10 age groups.
Per home meet tradition, we’re heading up to Aversboro restaurant after the meet. Last week the food service was a little slow because a cook called out sick. We let them know we’d be back this Tuesday, so fingers crossed they are fully staffed and ready for our crew.
As always, please reach out if you have any questions and see you at the pool!
