The first day of practice will be here before we know it. Get the kids ready to hit the water following the Memorial Day holiday! Practice starts Tuesday, May 30th at 6:00 pm, parents meeting is at 7 pm.

Suits and gear

• We now have a team store where you can purchase the team logo swimsuit. If you prefer to purchase a suit in person, go to All American Swim in Cary. You can try on suits, purchase a plain black one, and ask them to put the Garner Dolphin decal on it.
• 2023 team T-shirts are being finalized and will be sold through Bonfire again this year. Be on the lookout for more on this soon!
• Purchase of fins and pull buoys are not required, but encouraged and can enhance practice. The team has kickboards. If your swimmer has a preference of course they are welcome to bring their own.
• Every swimmer gets one latex swim cap with the Garner Dolphin logo and a drawstring backpack, included with their registration. Additional swim latex caps can be purchased for $5. Silicon caps can be purchased for $12 (what we pay for them). See Jake at practice to get your cap and bag.

Volunteers

• Volunteers are critical to creating a positive experience for our swimmers. Descriptions of all volunteer roles can be found on our Resources page.
• Note, for the mock meet, we also need volunteers.
• We have some S&T judges, Meet Admins, and Starters confirmed, but could always use more, with S&T judge being our greatest need. If you’re interested in filling one of these roles, let me know and plan to attend one of these clinics.

Meet sign up

• Swimmer and volunteer meet sign up is now open for the season. Please review the schedule, declare your swimmer, and sign up for your preferred volunteer spots.
• Swimmers must declare meet status by 8 pm on Saturday before meet or they will not be able to swim any main events.
• Swimmers must be at practice the night before a meet. If a child can't make it the night before a meet, they should notify Coach Julie via email at [email protected].
• If you know you’re going to miss a meet (vacation for example), please declare that as early as possible.

Junior Coaches

• Coach Julie & Coach Jessica are looking for swimmers ages 13 & up to be Junior Coaches this year. These swimmers will help with the 10 & under practices, lead cheering at meets, help with lane lines, and additional leadership opportunities. If your child is interested in being a Junior Coach, please let Coach Julie or Coach Jessica know. We will need some Junior Coaches to run practice on Saturday, June 3 while the coaches attend a training session.

First Week of Practice

• Tie Dye Tuesday - We're going to kick off the season by tie dying shirts! Bring a white shirt with your name on the tag & a trash bag to take the shirt home.
• Deck Your Dolphin Wednesday - Each swimmer will get their own dolphin to decorate. We are going to hang them around the pool. Swimmers can bring stickers or markers to use if they'd like!
